Hi Parents!
Hopefully most of you have recovered from your hard work at Blue & Burgundy last weekend and are looking forward to taking a weekend off from racing.  I have some news about two great team-building opportunities coming up...

May 18th - Spaghetti Dinner at Coach Joy's house
Coach Joy is hosting a spaghetti dinner (complete with homemade sauce and meatballs) at her home in Milford on May 18th.  This is the perfect stop-over point between practice (which will be held at East Fork Lake that day) and home.  The kids need to let Joy know BY SATURDAY MAY 12TH if they would like to attend.  The cost is only $5 and will help to ensure a ready store of energy for early morning championship racing.

May 26th - Team awards banquet at Bob & Mollie White's house
We will hold a team banquet on May 26th from 11:30-1:00.  Team awards will be presented by the coaches.  You'll be getting more information about the location and what to bring soon.  PLEASE SAVE THE DATE FOR THIS END-OF-YEAR CELEBRATION!
Have a great day!!

Hi all,
Come help us plan the most laid-back event of the rowing year...the team picnic :).  We will meet on Thursday May 3rd (yes, that's this Thursday) at 7:00 PM at Ryan's Tavern in Hamilton.  It's on High St. right next to Mehas Music.  Respond to me (jen.ret.obrien@gmail.com) if you plan to attend.

And don't forget, the GMRC Annual Picnic/Banquet will be May 26th from 11:00-1:30 at the White House in Mason (that's Leah, Mollie and Bob White's house).  Please plan to attend :).
Thanks!

Hi all,
We still need help filling all of the spots for the Blue & Burgundy regatta on Saturday, May 5th.  See the sign-up by clicking here!
Not sure what job to sign up for??  Choose "general volunteer" and we'll find something for you to do on that day.  Or, you can sign up for a clean-up job...if you've been to a regatta, you already know what do :).
Thank you!

Hi GMRC Parents!
What a turn out in Oak Ridge yesterday!  The beautiful weather made up for last weekend's rain, and we had over 10 hours of great racing in a gorgeous venue.  The kids enjoyed high quality entertainment on a comfortable chartered bus, and were given the opportunity to practice on the water on Friday afternoon.  While the kids were busy getting the lay of the land, some of our very dedicated parents were staking out premium real estate at the 1500 meter mark.  Team meetings were held at the venue, and an elementary school fundraiser provided a filling dinner for a good cause.  By 9:45, the kids were back at the hotel and settling in for the night.  An informal Booster Meeting in the hotel's lounge gave us all a chance to get to know each other a little better :).  Everyone had a filling breakfast before leaving for the site, and not a single teenager overslept!

The girls were first on the water Saturday morning and the action was virtually nonstop from there.  A crew in a neighboring tent chose to use the same chant we chime out to our own rowers, so we were twice as loud!  There was grilled cheese and soup aplenty, along with many other snacks.  A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE PARENTS WHO PUT THEIR TIME AND EFFORT INTO HELPING SUPPORT OUR CREW...all of the driving, all of the construction traffic, all of the cooking, all of the cleaning, all of the sitting around waiting.  We appreciate every minute of it.  Thank you!

Hello all,
Yesterday's weather was less than ideal, unfortunately, but the first full race of the season went very smoothly overall.  We had hot coffee and eggs to start a chilly morning, and pulled pork sandwiches with beans and sweet corn to warm up an even colder lunch time.  Thanks to our great "crew cooks" for keeping the food cooking!  We tried to stay dry and there was plenty of "MOOOW"ing from the shoreline.  We took a paper products inventory and even held a quick booster meeting around the tent!  Don't forget that we typically feed rowers before we feed parents, and the Free Will Offering container will ensure that we have enough money to feed all athletes, as well as their families.

THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE AWESOME PARENTS WHO WERE ABLE TO COME OUT AND HELP US.  It takes a lot of folks to make sure the kids are comfortable and fed so they can do their best on race day.  We really appreciate all of your time and effort!

Have a great Sunday.  Hope to see you at the next Booster meeting...although they are usually held the second Thursday of the month, the next one will be May 3rd (first Thursday) at 7PM at Ryan's Tavern in Hamilton.  This is right before Blue and Burgundy.  Don't forget to email Jennifer Wischer (geojaguar@gmail.com) if you are able to help in ANY WAY with B&B.
Hope to see you next weekend in Oak Ridge!

Hi all,
Attached is a Heat Sheet for the Hoover Invitational...this is helpful when you're waiting to see your kid come down the race course!  If you print a copy and bring it with you, don't forget your Ziploc bag.  See you all around the grill tomorrow.
